Why it matters

Two months in: the mandate is the EU accession agreement targeted for end-2028. The technocrat profile is the message — competence over politics.
GDP grew just 0.9% year-on-year in Q2 2026; the Commission sees about 2% for the year. Europe's poorest economy is barely moving.
EU funds target education and governance; emigration has hollowed a generation. The diaspora's remittances are the social safety net.
Europe's eastern frontier: EU candidate with Russian troops in Transnistria and hybrid pressure constant. The accession clock is the strategy.
