Why it matters

Kept the economy growing near 4% while the EU path stays blocked. Domestic consolidation after the local-election wins is the political capital.
The finance ministry projects 3.8% growth in 2026 (IMF: 3.2%, Commission: 3.3%) — the Western Balkans' solid middle. Investment is the driver.
Education and health are adequate; emigration drains the skilled young. The name-change generation feels the EU betrayal personally.
NATO member since 2020; EU candidate blocked on the Bulgarian veto. The alliance half of the portfolio is complete.
