Why it matters

As finance minister oversaw Benin's strong growth record and Eurobond market access; presidency too new for a record of its own.
Among West Africa's steadiest growers (~6% in recent years); IMF program on track; cotton and port logistics anchor growth.
Talon-era restrictions on opposition and press (2019–2025) remain the baseline; Wadagni has not yet signaled a break.
Technocrat continuity candidate: markets read him as Talonism without Talon — investor-friendly, reformist, loyal to the outgoing order.
