Why it matters

Belgium's premier — ended years of deadlock with a functioning federal government.
The IMF sees just 1.0% growth in 2026; public debt at 110-113% of GDP is the core vulnerability.
An EU-loyal, stabilising course; the €10bn consolidation test defines the premiership.
The debt overhang and slow growth erode Belgium's margin — discipline will break something.
