Why it matters

Leads the EU's fastest-rising heavyweight — NATO's top defense spender by GDP share.
Growth near 3.7% with frozen EU funds unblocked; rearmament as industrial policy — three munitions factories by 2028.
Defence at about 5% of GDP plus a $4bn anti-drone wall — Europe's security backbone from Warsaw.
The debit: governing against a veto-wielding president stalls judicial repair and the abortion file.
