Why it matters

Leads a top-tier industrial economy — chips, ships, and the world's most wired society.
A ₩26.2T supplementary budget; the state growth fund toward $134bn for AI; forecasts raised to 3.0%.
The US alliance anchored (28,500 troops); GSOMIA with Japan normalized — the security architecture intact.
The debit: defamation laws and spy-cam crime stain an otherwise robust democracy.
