Why it matters

President of Africa's most industrialised economy — and the continent's elder statesman.
Ended load-shedding; the August 2026 Government-Business plan targets >3% growth and 1m jobs by 2030.
G20 president in 2025; BRICS member; AGOA defended — non-alignment strained Western ties but bought room.
The debit: 0.6% average growth under his watch, 8.5m unemployed — stagnation, not recovery.
