A newspaper that cuts through the noise cannot host noise in its own margins. So the discussion under every story is moderated — not by a committee that meets on Tuesdays, but automatically, at the moment you press Reply. If your comment trips a rule, you are told exactly which one, instantly. No shadow games, no mystery deletions.
Attack arguments, never people. Slurs, dehumanizing language, and calls for harm against any group are blocked on sight. Disagreeing with a government is politics; degrading a people is filth. We print one and bury the other.
Debate the claim, not the claimant. Targeting, threatening, or dogpiling another reader turns a discussion into a brawl, and brawls get swept off the premises.
No profanity — in English, French, Arabic, or creative spelling. A strong argument has never once been improved by a swear word; it has been weakened by millions of them. Make the point, not the insult.
No sexual or pornographic content, no promotion of alcohol or drugs, no attacks on religion. This is a newspaper read in living rooms on three continents. Conduct yourself accordingly.
Opinions are welcome — label them. Fabrications presented as facts are not. "I think" is a discussion; "it is a proven fact that" followed by nonsense is a deletion. The Bureau spends its days fighting lies; it will not warehouse them in the comments.
No crypto schemes, no "double your money," no giveaways, no trading bots, no DMs-for-profit. Anyone arriving with a wallet open and a story closed gets removed. This includes the sophisticated kind with proper grammar.
Links are not allowed in comments — they are the delivery vehicle of nearly all spam and most malware. Quote the claim you are answering; do not drop a URL and run.
No phone numbers, no addresses, no personal details — yours or anyone else's. The filter strips them for everyone's safety, including yours.
All-caps reads as shouting, and shouting is what the rest of the internet is for. Lower the volume, raise the argument.
